Vision and Mission
The Vision and Mission of Veliyam Grama Panchayat are built upon sustainable local development, agrarian growth, and citizen-centric governance [1].
Aligned with the decentralized planning model of the Government of Kerala, the panchayat defines its core vision and mission as follows:
Vision
- Agrarian Prosperity: To preserve traditional paddy cultivation and commercial crops (like coconut and rubber), maintaining Veliyam as an eco-friendly green village [1].
- Sustainable Eco-Tourism: To develop natural geographical landmarks like Muttara Maruthimala (Namikkamkunnu) into premier adventure tourism hubs without harming the local ecosystem.
- Social Equity & Inclusion: To ensure basic amenities like housing (via LIFE Mission), clean drinking water, and quality healthcare for the poor and marginalized communities.
Mission
- Transparent Digital Governance: To deliver public services, certificates, and licenses swiftly via online platforms like the LSGD Thadeshakam portal, reducing the need for citizens to visit the office physically.
- Women Empowerment: To foster economic and social growth among women through self-employment and micro-enterprise projects led by the Kudumbashree CDS.
- Waste-Free Village: To achieve a plastic-free and clean panchayat by strengthening the Haritha Karma Sena for door-to-door waste collection.
- Infrastructure Upgradation: To continuously modernize rural roads, ensure clean drinking water distribution across all 19 wards, and upgrade government schools and Family Health Centres (FHCs).
